Looking to connect is operated by Venyu BV, Muylaertstraat 15, 9160 Lokeren, Belgium (company number BE 1019.765.651). Under the GDPR, Venyu BV is the data controller for the personal data described below. You can reach us at hello@lookingtoconnect.tech.

From X, when you sign in: your X user ID, display name, @handle and profile picture. Nothing else - we do not read your posts, your followers, your likes or your direct messages, and we ask X only for read access.

From you, when you publish: your introduction text, the photo you upload, the country you pick and your year of birth.

If you ask to be kept posted: your email address, and the moment you asked. This is optional, off unless you tick the box, and separate from everything else: it is never shown on your card and never passed to anyone. Untick the box on your own post and both the address and that timestamp are deleted.

Automatically: while a tab is open, your browser's session storage holds a list of the cards you clicked, so one visit is not counted twice. It is not a cookie, it is not tied to you, and it disappears when you close the tab.

Visitor statistics: we use DataFast to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets no cookies and builds no profile of you, so there is nothing here to ask your permission for and you will not find a cookie banner. We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not log IP addresses beyond what Cloudflare and DataFast need to count a visit and keep the site up.

If you report a post: the reason you pick, anything you type, and a one-way hash of your IP address. The hash lets us see that two reports came from the same place; it cannot be turned back into an IP, and we never store the address itself.

If you buy a sponsor slot: your email address and the details of your ad. The payment itself is handled by Stripe - we never see your card number.

Your name, @handle, photo, text, country flag and age are shown publicly on the directory, and your card links to your X profile. That is the entire purpose of the service.

Your year of birth is never displayed or shared - only the age calculated from it. A signed cookie keeps you logged in for 30 days; it contains nothing but your own profile details.

Your email address, if you gave one, is used for nothing but the occasional message about this site. It is not used to identify you elsewhere and it does not reach the sponsors.

We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and sponsors are shown to everyone equally - they are never targeted using anything we know about you.

X - you authenticate through them, so they know you signed in here. Venyu BV and X act as independent controllers for that exchange, not as processor and controller. Their privacy policy applies to what they do with it.

Cloudflare - hosts the site, the database and the photos, in Western Europe.

Stripe - processes sponsor payments and holds the billing details that go on your invoice. Only sponsors are affected.

DataFast - counts visits without cookies and without profiling. Their privacy policy applies to what they do with it.

Sign in and use Remove my post on your post page. That deletes your post, your photo, your profile details and the copy of your X profile picture - everything, immediately and permanently. You do not have to ask us.

If your X account is deleted or suspended, or if you ask us by email, we remove your listing within 24 hours. You can also ask us what we hold about you, or ask for a correction; email us and we will answer.

We keep your data only for as long as your post is listed. There is no archive and no backup that outlives a deletion. Reports about a listing go with it: delete the listing and the reports are gone too.

Everything runs on Cloudflare, over HTTPS, in Western Europe. Your session cookie is signed and cannot be read by scripts. Uploaded photos are stored under random names, so nobody can guess their address. We do not keep your IP address, and a report is linked to a one-way hash instead.

No online service can promise it will never be breached, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can promise is that there is very little to lose here: no passwords, no payment details, and nothing you did not choose to publish yourself.

You need to be at least 16 to list yourself, and the form will not accept a year of birth that makes you younger. This is a directory for people working in tech, not a service for children, and we do not knowingly keep data about them.

Venyu BV runs Looking to connect. If the company or this site is ever sold or merged, the listings go with it, because a directory without its listings is nothing. The buyer would be bound by this same policy, and you would be told before anything changes. You can always remove your listing first.

We may update this policy as the site grows. The date at the top says when it last changed.
